Full-time freelance translator from Swedish, Finnish and German. State-authorised translator ("auktoriserad translator"/"auktorisoitu kääntäjä") from Swedish and Finnish into English. BA and MA degrees in German literature. Institute of Linguists DipTrans, German-English. Taught German to undergraduates at Brown University in the USA. Formerly employed by OUP as a lexicographer.
I lead occasional practical translation workshops and seminars on corpus linguistics for translators.
In 2014 and 2015 I served as a mentor for Finnish in the British Centre for Literary Translation's mentorship programme. I taught the German group on the Translate in the City summer course at City University from 2014 to 2016.
I particularly enjoy translating works containing contemporary colloquial language, slang and humour.
