Biography

Ian is a literary translator of Swedish, and has published half a dozen translations. In 2015, he was shortlisted for the International Dagger by the Crime Writers’ Association. He is also a member of the Translators Association, and has been Treasurer of SELTA since 2016. In addition to his literary work, Ian works as a commercial translator from all three Scandinavian languages.

Ian holds an MA (Hons) in Scandinavian Studies and an MSc in Translation Studies, both from the University of Edinburgh, where he is currently a doctoral candidate examining the transmission of Scandinavian literature to the UK. He is the 2017 SWEA International Scholar in Research of the Swedish Language, Literature and Culture.
